Pets of the Week: Abby and Lilac

These rescued pets are ready for a new home.

The Humane Society of Greater Akron is offering these pets for adoption.

Abby

Abby was born on Aug. 29, 2001, and weighs about 100 pounds. She was returned after 4 years, because her family lost their home and couldn’t take her with them. She is AKC registered and was housebroken in her previous home, but may need some time getting use to a new schedule. She is smart and knows sit, down, stay, come and shake (with both paws). She loves to be with people and would stay by your side for pets as long as you will let her. She loves the tennis ball and she transforms into a puppy when she has one to play with. She has potential with the right dog, but also wouldn’t mind being the only pooch in the home. She is a very sweet and gentle girl.

Lilac

Lilac has been with the shelter a long time through no fault of her own, and as a consequence she is getting tired of going back in her cage after her petting sessions.  A loving lap cat, Lilac has three full pages of volunteer comments – she’s a favorite.  She does not like other cats, but boy does she adore people (and treats).  Bill says, “She has the strangest way of humming while getting love,” and Shirley noted, “Noses my hand for affection.”  We don’t have the room to show you all the love notes from our volunteers, but they’re available for you to read when you come to visit her.
