Celebrate first weekend of spring with Peninsula Spring Stroll

Unique shops and galleries in a picturesque village are this week's Great Escape

For the first weekend of spring, the Great Escape would like to take you out for a stroll.

The Peninsula Spring Stroll is 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in the picturesque village and its environs. The stroll is an annual event  is organized and sponsored by the Peninsula Chamber of Commerce to celebrating the first weekend of spring.

You can stroll the galleries at the Peninsula Art Academy on West Mill Street and see the current instructor/student exhibit of works created during or with skills learned in an Art Academy class. Highly Functioning will provide live melodic techno music 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the academy, according to the chamber.

The Log Cabin Gallery, an 1850s log cabin nestled behind a private residence on Main Street, is open 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday-Sunday and again March 25-27. The gallery’s Cabin Fever Reliever exhibit and sale features work from 16 artists.

Park Place, also on Main Street, is operated by the Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park. It offers national park apparel (fleece is on sale now) as well as books and gift items by local artisans, according to the chamber.

If you get hungry, stop by the Winking Lizard Tavern. The tavern, located in the historic Peninsula Nite Club building on Main Street, offers a selection of sandwiches, salads and entrees as well as several craft beers on tap.
