Summit DD Celebrates Greatness During DD Awareness Month

Each March, Summit County Developmental Disabilities Board, or Summit DD, and other related organizations celebrate National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month. The month is dedicated to celebrating the impact that inclusion, for all abilities, has in schools, workplaces and local communities. Summit DD invites you to consider the true meaning of inclusive communities, and celebrate Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month this March.

Summit DD Superintendent, John Trunk elaborated on the importance of the Agency’s role in the lives of people living with a disability. “We need to take on a leadership role in the community to make our neighborhoods a welcoming place for individuals with developmental disabilities.  Everyone benefits when that happens,” said Mr. Trunk. “We have an important job to do here, we will work hard to listen and to get it done.”

Summit DD offers a lifetime of support to more than 4,000 adults and children with developmental disabilities across Summit County. Whether you’re the parent of a child with special needs participating in story time at your local library, a teenager exploring career possibilities for the future, or an adult practicing self-advocacy, Summit DD provides the personalized supports to help people with disabilities achieve their dreams.
