Copley Resident Named Partner in Akron Accounting Firm

Todd Kennedy has been named a partner in the Levin Swedler Crum accounting firm.

Levin, Swedler & Company and Crum, Buchanan & Associates merged earlier this year to form Levin Swedler Crum.

“Levin Swedler Crum is a growing and vibrant firm with the ability to offer our clients an increasing array of professional services,” Kennedy said. “I am eager to take on a greater leadership role in the firm.’’

Kennedy helps to oversee the firm’s financial statement audit practice, focusing on employee benefit plans and privately-held businesses. In addition, he works with small and medium-sized businesses and their owners to comply with their ongoing financial and tax reporting obligations and strives to educate clients about related requirements and opportunities throughout all phases of the engagement.

Kennedy honed these skills during the past decade with Levin, Swedler & Company.

“I have experienced immeasurable growth, both professionally and personally, during my 10 years with the firm and I am tremendously excited about helping to guide the [newly merged] firm to new heights,” he said.

Kennedy has worked with clients in a variety of industries, including: wholesale distribution, direct marketing, retail, employee benefit plans, health care, construction, non-profit and automobile dealerships.

“We are excited to welcome Todd as a partner and look forward to his contributions to firm development and further enhancing client services, areas in which he has already excelled,” Steve Swedler said.

Kennedy earned a Bachelor’s degree in business administration from Iowa State University in 1994 and then spent six years working for a 50-person public accounting firm in West Des Moines, Iowa. He became a certified public accountant in 1996.

After spending one year with a commercial real estate development and property management company in Iowa, he moved to Ohio and joined Levin, Swedler & Company, Inc. in 2002.

Kennedy is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants (OSCPA). He regularly attends the AICPA National Conference on Employee Benefit Plans.

He lives in nearby Copley with his wife and three daughters. He is an active member of St. Hilary Church in Fairlawn. He enjoys coaching his daughters in various activities, family hikes in the Summit County Metro Parks, golfing, running, and rooting for the Iowa Hawkeyes and Iowa State Cyclones.
