Crafty Mart, Akron’s uncommon arts and craft marketplace, returns Saturday, June 1, 2013 from 10am to 5pm at Musica, We Gallery and Uncorked Wine Bar at 51 E. Market Street in Akron for its eighth iteration. And just in time for NEOhioans to pick up gifts for Father’s Day and graduation parties. Crafty Mart was established in 2009 as a haven of uncommon, locally made arts and crafts and has continued organizing twice yearly events in Akron since.

Brit Charek, director of Crafty Mart, says that this market has “gifts that your favorite grads and dads will remember and handmade right here in the Rubber City.”

According to their press release, Crafty Mart allows you to buy directly from the makers of unique goods and gifts epitomizing Akron’s creative class. Products made by both “self-taught and school-skilled artisans.” Some of these crafters style their wares from scratch, others repurpose and up-cycle common things into uncommon objects. Crafty Mart vendors create art that’s unusual yet sensibly priced.

Charek says that, “All of our vendors put soul into their works and it shows in the quality and creativity of their offerings.” Charek says there will be a DJ spinning records all day and food and coffee will be available inside Urban Eats, and “libations will be provided after noon by both Musica and Uncorked Wine Bar.”

There will be free photobooth pictures provided by Magnolia Photobooth Company. Parking is free on the street and at the Library Parking Deck on the SW Corner of High & Market Streets.
