From local to national large to small

Both Forbes and the Chicago Tribune have both recently written articles on the current wave of 3-d printing. The Forbes magazine article focused on the revolution that is coming. This alone rings bells in many an ear while the Chicago Tribune article focused more on how this burgeoning industry would shape the future. Please read both of these articles as I don't want to quote when we could easily inform ourselves.

I personally will try to demonstrate locally how we can focus locally. I grew up with and graduated with 10 guys that entered the field of engineering. This roughly 5 percent out of Copley 98's class of 200 that made this decision. I would say that skews towards a pretty high percentage. Over the next two months I hope to get a video (less than 30 seconds) of each persons current view of 3-d printing and were they think the future lays ahead.

Focusing a little more locally, Staples now carries 3d printers. Go, investigate for yourself. They aren't doing demos are classes on them yet, to my knowledge. If you think 3d printing will have a sticker shock, or isn't an extension of the future of manufacture hopefully seeing it as a viable household utility will change your mind.
