Crown Point Ecology Center's Annual Broadway in the Barn Approaching

The annual event features Helen Welch June 8, 2013.

Helen Welch, who is a critically-acclaimed vocalist, will be featured in the Crown Point Ecology Center's annual Broadway in the Barn June 8. Welch's live stage performances explore a diverse range of musical compositions, starting with the 1930s up through present day. She is a native of England and is known throughout the United Kingdom, according to a prepared statement. She has appeared in entertainment establishments including Severance Hall, Cleveland’s Playhouse Square Center, Akron Civic Theatre, Blossom Music Center, the Chautauqua Institute and more.   The evening will feature Broadway Love songs including music from shows such as Wicked, A Chorus Line, Carousel, Guys and Dolls, My Fair Lady, Chicago, South Pacific, Kiss Me Kate …

Crown Point to Take Part in World Labyrinth Day

  Crown Point Ecology Center, 3220 Ira Road, will participate in the fifth annual World Labyrinth Day on Saturday, May 4. Everyone is invited to walk the Crown Point Labyrinth at 1 p.m. The Crown Point labyrinth is open to all during daylight hours for quiet presence and meditation any day of the year except on major holidays. World Labyrinth Day is an annual global event celebrated each year on the first Saturday in May, sponsored by The Labyrinth Society, which invites the world to ‘Walk As One at 1’ in an attempt to create a wave of peaceful energy moving around the planet. To participate, people are invited to walk a labyrinth at 1 p.m. in their local time zone. While the origin of the labyrinth is unknown, labyrinths have been found …

Artist's Rain Barrel to Be Auctioned

  The Fairlawn Community Foundation is offering a rain barrel painted by local artist Cari Miller for auction at Earth Fare in Fairlawn.  The barrel will be on display for Earth Fare’s Earth Month festivities from April 19 – May 5. Bids will be accepted at Earth Fare and the winning bidder will be notified after May 5. The Foundation, whose mission is to Promote the Quality of Life in the Fairlawn Community is encourages everyone to go green and recycle.

Copley-Fairlawn High Goes 'Into The Woods'

The high school is staging a Stephen Sondheim classic.

A popular Broadway show will hit the stage at Copley-Fairlawn High School. The theater presents Into The Woods, created by Stehphen Sondheim, a tale of famous story-book characters brought to life. The show runs Thursday, Friday and Saturday April 18, 19 and 20 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 21 at 2:30 p.m.  Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students. The story follows a baker (Marcus Martin) and his wife (Monica Peck) who wish to have a child, Cinderella (Jacqueline D'Attoma) who wishes to attend the King's Festival, and Jack (Wesley Shinn) who wishes his cow would give milk. When the baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of the curse from the witch (Bria Neal), the two set off on a journey to break the curse. …

Track the Easter Bunny on His Way to Fairlawn and Bath

Websites promise to keep tabs as he hops our way with goodies

  Kids can track the Easter Bunny on his journey Saturday with help from some websites.  At this site, trackeasterbunny.com, there are games and coloring pages, as well as a tracking page that starts March 30. We also found this online tracker that shows a satellite view of the Bunny's hideout and says it will start following his progress March 30.  A site called TheBunnyTracker.com promises to keep kids up to date on the rabbit's progress as he hops around the world. And there's also an iPhone app for 99 cents that offers a map of where the Bunny is on his journey. Best bet to make sure he visits your house tonight is to leave out some carrots or lettuce. Word is, the Easter Bunny will happily leave some chocolates and jelly beans in …
