A Kent woman is suffering from the effects of extreme cold after losing control of her car and flipping it into Yellow Creek early Thursday morning.
According to Chief Michael McNeely, the 42-year-old was heading to her Bath Township job when she lost control on her car on ice, hit the guardrail on the north side of Yellowcreek Road, bounced to the north side, went up an embankment of snow and flipped off the bridge. Her car landed upside down in the creek, McNeely said.
"We suspect the woman was trapped in her car for about 40 minutes," McNeely said. "She was able to crawl out a window and started to crawl up an embankment when someone saw her."
The passer-by helped the woman get out of the creek and wrapped blankets around her. When Bath Township EMS arrived, they took her to the hospital.
It took police about four hours to get the car out of the creek, McNeely said.
