Winter Break Activities for You and Your Kids
The Fairlawn Parks and Recreation Department has several activities planned for fun on winter break.

The City of Fairlawn’s Parks and Recreation Department is offering some neat activities over winter break. If you are looking for something to do with your family or fun programs for just the kids, they gotcha covered.
The programs are held at the Learning Resource Center, 413 Trunko Road. Registration is required and for more information, click here. Call naturalist Lisa Shah at 330-668-9518 with any questions about the programs below:
• Winter Nature Hike
Cost: Free
Ages: all ages (under 5 with adult)
Dates: December 26 (winter break)
Time: 1:00pm
It may be cold, but a hike in the winter is a great time to see signs of wildlife. Tracks in the snow and evidence of animals are easy to spot. This is a great time to get out of the house during Winter Break.
• Eco- Smart kids: Recycled crafts
Cost: $5
Ages: 7 and up
Dates: December 27 (winter break)
Time: 10:30-11:30
Register by: December 26
Learn to be crafty and eco-smart! We’ll teach you how to make beautiful art and crafts out of used household materials, including a wallet made from a juice container.
• Old fashioned Crafts
Cost: $5
Ages: 8 and up
Dates: December 28 (winter break)
Time: 1:30-2:30
Register by: December 26
Experience an old activity in a new way. You will be making your very own paper and dipping candles! Take home your custom hand-made crafts that day.
• Winter Fun Day
Cost: $5 per person
Ages: 6-10
Dates: January 3 (winter break)
Time: 10:30am-12:00pm
Register by: December 28
Nowhere to go, nothing to do? Join the Naturalist for a morning filled with crafts, animals, games, and lots of fun. Depending on the weather, we may go outside to paint the snow or stay in to make a terrific craft, play games and see the animals. Either way we’ll have lots of fun!
• Vet Cadets
Cost: $5
Ages: 8-13
Dates: January 4 (winter break)
Time: 10:30am-12:00pm
Register by: December 28
Come and spend some time up close and personal with the animals that call the LRC home. Learn about the various diets, exercise requirements, and cage maintenance before personally caring for one of the animals for the day.
