William Michael "Bill" Burns, 88

The service will be held today.

 

William Michael "Bill" Burns, 88, passed away on May 19 at his home in the Village at St. Edward.

Bill was born in Alliance and was a 47-year resident of Fairlawn. He studied at St. Joseph's College in Indiana, served as a pilot in the U.S. Navy, was a veteran of World War II.

Bill was an accountant and spent his life working in the insurance industry. He was also active in and contributed greatly to the family business, Quikey Manufacturing.

He was preceded in death by his parents and seven of his nine siblings.

Bill is survived by his much-loved wife of 62 years, Mary Lou (Stiller); sons, Michael (Jayne) Burns, Patrick (Dana) Burns and Terrence (Linda) Burns; daughter, Mia Burns Lewis; 17 grandchildren, Kelley Burns Miller (Seth), Dr. Christine Burns, Caitlin Burns Piller (Grant); Michael, Jake, Corey, Maria, Brian, Stephen, Paul and Mark Burns; Karen Ellen, Steven and Michelle Burns; Matthew, Ryan and Jennifer Lewis; and three great-grandchildren, Maeve, Rowan and Reagan Miller.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. on May 24 at St. Hilary Catholic Church. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Akron. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Hospice of Ridgewood Road, Akron or to St. Hilary Catholic Church.
