Two 15-Year-Olds Arrested for Shoplifting at Summit Mall
Information provided by the Fairlawn Police Department.
On June 2, a manager at Spencer's Gifts in Summit Mall saw two 15-year-old girls rip the tags off some bracelets and put them in their purse, according to a Fairlawn police report.
Each girl stole $2.98 in bracelets, the report said, and they were stopped walking out of the store. When security searched the girls, they also found stolen merchandise from Hollister, Charlotte Russe and Macy's. Those stores decided not to press charges.
A woman met with the officers and claimed to be the mother of one of the girls. She gave officers false information about her daughter, and she had two actives warrants through the Akron Police Department, the report said.
When officers went to arrest the mother, she resisted and finally gave in. She was arrested and police charged her with obstructing official business, warrant arrest and resisting arrest. She was taken to the Summit County Jail.
One girl had a warrant through the Summit County Juvenile Detention Center for assault, the report said. She and her friend were both taken to the center.
