Three Juveniles Caught Stealing Food, Balloons From Acme

Information provided by the Bath Township Police Department.

Security personnel from Acme Fresh Market saw three juveniles, ages 9, 10 and 14, walk into the store on June 28, according to a Bath Township police report.

As the kids walked around the store, they stopped in certain aisles, grabbed items off the shelf and put them in a backpack, the report said.

Bath police Chief Michael McNeely said the kids took balloons, food and "other kid stuff" off the shelf before trying to leave the store without paying.

The boys were stopped on their way out by security and admitted to stealing. They were released to their mother and stepfather after the 14-year-old was charged with theft, the report said.

Had they taken them to the Courthouse and stuck them in one of those cells from the 1920s (sic), I think that would have meant more for dissuasion, than giving them back to mommy... Obviously, they have not had the upbringing that would tell them this is wrong. Dont make excuses either... We have raised children who have never had a single encounter with the law. Not even a parking ticket. See, some people respect what it means to be an American, with respect for others, and obeying of the law. Then there are those who think they are 'entitled', look for loopholes, or ways to circumvent the law, while making excuses along the way... If you think the parents are not to blame, you are totally in denial. These children have been taught it is ok to take what you can, when you can...
