On Dec. 8, 2011, Bath Township native and Revere High graduate Aaron Hale was injured in a bomb explosion while on tour in Afghanistan. On Dec. 7, he will come home for the first time since then to celebrate life, community support and family.

"This is a celebration of Aaron's life and his achievements and sacrifices," said Sonny Bare, Hale's best friend from high school. "He has had multiple reconstructive surgeries and he was blinded from the injuries."

The event starts at 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 8 in the Revere High School gym. Hale and his family will be there to greet the community.

"The community has really pulled together and supported him in a multitude of ways," Bare said. "His wife (Kelly) wanted the community to be a part of his homecoming."

Hale and his family currently live in Florida, Bare said.

"Aaron defines what a true hero is for me day in and day out," Bare said. "When you're in the military, every hero meets an angel, and I think Kelly has been Aaron's angel."
