I think Mayor Robart's decision to put this "civic event" ahead of the paying members of the Natatorium says volumes about his priorities - this is the last straw for me and he's lost what little respect and support I had had for him. It's time for "Cuyahoga Falls' longest tenured mayor" to let someone else lead the city...

What about all the hard working Nat employees that are now down one day of pay? Will the RNC compensate them as well? There is a fantastic venue at the Riverfront. Why not hold the event there right next to the parking garages rather than disrupt the entire city and take money away from working folks?

I as a Democrat also work, pay taxes and help keep a business running. It seems we have a lot in common. All of our problems cannot be solved by members of one political party or another. It will take all of us, working together.

Just a thought.

I am elated that Mr. Romney will be in our City. Why are people searching for only negative effects that could potentially come from his visit? Can't we see any positive in this? The Nat will be shut down for a day, 24 hours, that is all. Given that it is open almost every other day of the year, I find this the least bit concerning to the city or it's patrons. The Nat has already extended its members the extra day so members will not be wasting their money by paying for today. The Natatorium parking lot holds more people than the immediate downtown area anyhow. How about this event will allow our local young people the opportunity to take part in a historic event - become informed? Even if they don't side with Romney, they can stand and hear the issues - pro or con. How about local business will thrive from the flood of people coming in for food and/or shopping today? How about the national coverage our city will obtain from his visit? I can only see great things coming from this. I am a young person and I haven't made up my mind as to who I'm voting for yet this election; but I can tell you that I feel absolutely privileged to have been given the opportunity to have BOTH candidates close enough that I could physically go and see them, listen to all issues and make an informed educated yet independent decision.

I think the citizens of our community have some messed up priorities...hence the condition of our nation. I personally see this as an opportunity my children may never have again to get this close and listen to a presidential hopeful. Maybe there are other possible places this could have been held but why can't we respect the decision made and embrace it with a positive outlook. It is quite obvious from some of the comments where people's priorities are, sadly.

The mayor has extended the membership for people who use the Natatorium by this one day that members of this lucky community have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The complainers sound like Democrats who I'm sure would welcome a visit to the same facility by Obama. Let's listen open mindedly to both sides before making a decision on who proposes the best solution to our deep problems. I am so concerned about economy--but also about our standing in the erupting problems across the world. The U.S. used to be strong and #1 in our world standing--with the focus ONLY on ourselves and our immediate situations, I believe we're losing sight of the forest for the trees. We need to regain that standing--for the sake of our children and grandchildren.

Paid by DC huh? Aaaand where do you think that money came from? Our pay checks! Tada!
