Revere Extends Administrator Contracts
Two full-time postions also were cut to half time in case May 3 levy fails.
The has extended contracts for six administrators for an additional year.
The contract extension was amended on Friday from a motion giving a new two-year contract to the administrators, said Treasurer David Forrest. He said the board’s decision was based on economics and the May 3 tax levy ballot initiative for the schools.
The extended contracts were for Principal Bill Adams, Assistant Superintendent Kathy Bearer, Revere High School Assistant Principal John Evans, Principal Katie Kowza, Information and Technology Specialist Ryan Lekan and Athletic Director Bill Schumacher.

“This was a fiscal decision, it was not related to the performance of those people,” Forrest said. The contracts would have expired at the end of the school year. Salaries were unchanged.
According to state law, the board had to act on the contracts by the end of March.
The board also spent the special meeting Friday morning eliminating the full-time positions of transportation supervisor, which was held by Nila Ellis, and food services supervisor, which is held by Deanne Pastva. The board re-created the positions as coordinator of transportation and coordinator of food services as half-time positions.

The salary freezes and reduction of hours for the two positions came after the board, earlier this month, laid off 34 teachers for the next school year. The district is trying to save money in case the May 3 ballot initiative fails to pass.
