Police and Firemen Belly Up to the Bar for a Good Cause

Bartender tips will benefit the Copley Share a Christmas Program to make the holidays special for needy families in the Copley-Fairlawn area.

Want to have a drink poured or mixed by one of Copley and Fairlawn's finest? On Dec. 12 you can, and it's for a good cause!

Officers and firemen from the Copley and Fairlawn police and fire departments will be guest bartenders at David B's from 6 to 11 p.m. on Dec. 12. All tips received are donated to the Copley Share a Christmas Program, which helps needy families in the Copley-Fairlawn area have a special Christmas.

Last year, more than $5,000 was raised, said Copley Youth Services Coordinator Marcie Mason. That money was used to help more than 100 Copley-Fairlawn families.

"We're hoping to get more than that this year," Mason said. "It's the largest contribution we get to the departments by far."

Fundraiser coordinator Matt Beck said guests can buy fundraiser T-shirts, raffle tickets, food, drinks and more. If you want a table, Beck suggests you come early.

The fundraiser is sponsored by the Copley and Fairlawn firefighter unions and fraternal orders of police.
