Fifth grade students help board members Claudia Hower and Dana Appel use the Student Response System clickers.

A group of giggling fifth graders from Bath Elementary School were the stars at Tuesday's Revere Board of Education meeting.

They passed out small "clickers" to a Student Response System to each board member and helped them participate in the "Bath version" of Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?

Teacher Sandy Kahoe posted three math questions for the members and fifth graders to answer so the board members could get a sense of how teachers are using the interactive technology.

The Student Response Systems let the teachers know who needs more help in certain areas, as well as when the students are ready to move forward. It's also helpful in terms of gathering student data, Kahoe said.
