I reality-most republicans, we like, love teachers. It is the Unions we have a problem with, especially the Union bosses. They are in control-making teachers that are republicans pay their fees that go to democrat causes. Why is that right? And the Union bosses make 10 times (or higher) than the school teachers). Why is that right? Also, the Union bosses were exempt from Obamacare-if obama care is so great why are they exempt. Why is that right? Also, there are many wonderful teachers, but there are a few that just do not do their job-you just try and get rid of those few, and the Unions step in with a high paying lawyer and you just can't get rid of those few bad teachers. Why is that right? I could go and on-but Ithink you get the picture.
You make it sound like republicans hate teachers-simply and truthfully not so!
You party is for abortion- that means you hate children-is that right?

elicantu, it's like republicans in any other business.

We love our employees--we just don't want to pay them to do the job. And, without unions, you don't have to...so let's get rid of the unions.

Nah. We'll keep our unions--just like SB5 / Issue 2 showed.

The Morning journal article is wrong that the kids would have "lunch" while the rally was held. The kids were in the PAC during the rally for approximately 3 hours watching movies. So they lost 3 hours of their school day.

Until speaking to a different group who wants the opposite, then he will of course, take their side.

Jimbo-
Before you start calling people stupid, you better educate yourself. Those 2001/2003 Bush tax cuts were to expire in 2010 and Obama extend them. On top of that, he gave the average couple the "making work pay" credit of $800 in 2009 and 2010, and lowered the FICA deduction 2% in 2011 and 2012 giving the average family $1000 each year. That's the $3600 Obama boasts of. Not only did he extend Bushs, he added to them with those AND others for other people making less - they get money BACK having kids if they make a lower income. This is how almost 50% Americans pay no federal income tax. Is that right that the other 50% should when we all live in this country? Shouldn't everyone contribute something, the wealthy the most and the poor the least? But, instead, we give people money over and above what they have paid, withheld or owe - i.e., if they owe NOTHING, they can still get thousands back from the government in a refund check. Nice, huh?

Another problem is, that 2% reduction means now Social Security is funded less, because THAT is the source of funding SS. So, what do they do? The government makes that up from the general fund - and the debt then goes up. What sense does that make? And what happens when they don't extend this reduction? People will look at it like a tax increase, which it is not.
Educate yourself.

At this point I cannot imagine anyone in their right mind voting for Mitt Romney. The lack of climate change initiatives aside, which President Obama has, facts show, made clear advancements in, with the the Romney/Ryan ticket, we have an as yet "un-determined" economic/jobs plan that "somehow" adds up to 12,000,000 jobs, a tax system with no details (other than that the rich will pay no more than now, which studies show most Americans agree is too little), while adding "trillions" to the military which they have not asked for, all as the social equality and equal rights of minorities (women, visual minorities, GLBT, victims of sexual assault, religious minorities) greatly worsen. Who on earth would choose to vote for this? It certainly isn't going to ensure American success, peace or prosperity. It certainly isn't kind. It certainly isn't forward. And it certainly isn't Christian.

"It certainly isn't kind. It certainly isn't forward. And it certainly isn't Christian."
Too true. The religious freedom that so many came to America for is slowly being repressed into a hate-mongering, foaming at the mouth, you can only worship the way we tell you or we'll eat you alive, religion.
Whatever happened to the maxim of treating others as you want to be treated?
Why all the ugliness?

Who smirks and takes their funding, so yes, I do tie those to Romney.
As insane as radical Islam is, this scares me much more. I expect that bad behavior from a repressed society of fanatics. But this is right here, in America.
We should be better than that. We used to hold ourselves out as better than that.
We should be showing the world how its done, not sinking to their level of fanaticism.

Yet another example of why Ohioans can’t trust Romney.

Desperate to win the state, Romney twists the media story on Chrysler, and falsely interprets it -- likely on purpose -- saying that the automaker is moving production of all Jeeps to China. He and his team need an intensive course in truth telling and reading comprehension. (Politifact says Romney has lied much more than Obama in the past year, based on their rulings of comments.)

Romney could have researched the topic before presenting these Jeep lies as facts. Making it worse, rather than having the guts to correct himself, he keeps repeating the false information, and the campaign uses some of the fiction in its ads.

Romney: Zero credibility!

This Jean Hoffman appeared, if you had been paying attention, after Mark Peterson and Joseph Robert were outed as the same person. As that was being done, "Jean" starting posting the exact same comments all over different states also, same person again as Beth Norquist. They are the same person, or group! All you had to do when all those names appeared was check their comment history. Even that Mark guy changed his name back to Joseph so all the postings that HAD been under the name Mark now say Joseph. And, that guy ADMITTED he was the same person, but claimed he and this Jean were a couple, and didn't know what she posted. Yeah, sure, they posted identical messages. And, yes, they are SPAM. They are posting in the states that are important for this election. If you think you are talking to your neighbor, you have been duped. They just signed in from Cuyahoga Falls.

I don't care if someone wants to debate an issue I disagree with. But these spammers and roboposters need to be outed for all of us to know who is posting propaganda on here. And, I'm not alone on here. I was curious how other states felt about this - and some are more upset than us, and the editors have taken action on this in Wisconsin. Comments there have been deleted. Its not a question of free speech either. This is a private business, and they can set up their own rules. So, those people crying free speech are free to create their own means of free speech - or continue to abuse our Patch in NE Ohio until our editors better monitor their articles or enforce policies.

So far as starting another war or two, he has made it clear if people just think it through.
That is why is wants to increase the military's budget by trillions in spite of no request from them. War is big business for his friends. War has always boosted the economy.
Those trillions will go to his cronies and there WILL be more jobs resulting. Factories and armies will need more people.
The part he doesn't care about beyond making money for him and his cronies, is the number of young people who will die in those wars.

One thing that hasn't been brought up enough in this campaign is why the State of Massachusetts, Romney's "home" state -- which he governed -- is firmly in the Obama camp. Mitt is a one term governor who raised taxes and fees on everything in sight. He didn't run for a second term because he knew he couldn't win. He's been sitting on his butt for the last four years living off the millions he made from Bain. The question you need to ask yourself is, if Romney was so great at governing, why has Massachusetts turned against him?

The real flip-flopper is Obama... Obama has done that so many times it's hard to keep track. He voted against increasing the debt limit, and then supported raising it. Campaigned against the Bush tax cuts, and then extended them. Promised to cut the deficit in half by the end of his first term, and then doubled it. Vowed the unemployment rate would be below 8% if his stimulus was passed, but then it broke 10%. Only an artificial stimulus by the Federal Reserve now has it under 8%, barely. Promised shovel ready jobs, then admitted they weren't shovel ready. Said if you like your health plan you can keep it, but then threw seniors off Medicare Plus and employers are now saying they'll dump people onto the public exchange. Promised to have health care negotiations on live tv, but then reversed himself. Indicated Bush violated the Constitution, then carried out warrantless wiretaps, indefinite detentions, secret renditions, quadrupled drone attacks, and kept Guantanamo Bay open. Voted against the Patriot Act, but then supported its extension. Said lobbyists wouldn't work in the White House, then gave them waivers to work there. Vowed to take public financing for his 2008 campaign, then refused it when he realized he would receive more without it. Obama said his administration would be the most transparent in history. Yet his lies and coverup attempts on Benghazi are still at hand, while he tries to wait it out past the election.

Wow....not sure what to even say here...so much bickering which sounds just like the tv ads! Doesnt anyone realize yet that it doesnt even matter? What any candidate says on their platform, or in debates, or in ads, or in public appearances...ends up having very little resemblance to what they actually do (ie, can get done) if and when they end up in office. Gee...I think I'll vote for the "person who lied the least" based on some links some raging lunatic posted online! Really? Wow. Just wow people.

SW I have to agree. Instead of telling us the truth about the problems they blame each other as if one man did this all be himself. The congress both R and D spent and spent and borrowed and borrowed...some good, lots wasted. the challenge is what are we gonna do about it. Why would Obama scream and holler about the debt but then add to it?? It doesn't add up.

You nailed it SW. This isn't a Republican vs. Democratic issue. Rather, this is special interest money vs. the People. Politicians are slaves to campaign contributions. This hurts all Americans.

Murphy-Solon - another reason we need term limits and no benefits paid for our elected leaders for what should be a short term gig and not a career. If term limits are ok for President, it should be ok for all. I'm also getting a little tired being told what to do because there are more people in California and New York than here in the midwest. Who says they know what is best for all of us? It's not like either state has a track record of success to be telling us how to live.

Reds fan: concerning term limits, I wholeheartedly agree with you. This is the most intelligent thing I have heard on all these boards. I don't believe the founders of this country had career politicians in mind, and never will. They can serve their 2 terms, then go HOME and live under the policies they have enacted. NO lifelong benefits, NO voting themselves raises, etc.

Only issue with term limits is the decisions made concerning committee chairpeople. Usually based on seniority within the governing party. Big constitutional issues involved.

You're right Reds fan, committee chairmanships are used as political bargaining chips for the party leaders to prevent individual thought. If changing chairmanships of committees were unconstitutional, then they've been in violation for quite some time.

Maybe that is a nice answer, if you don't understand the realities of how many more registered Democrats there are to Republicans. There are 72 million Democrats and 55 million Republicans. You do realize that there are actual mathematical reasons for this type of over sampling and that you aren't actually unveiling any sort of conspiracy theory, as I am sure that it was presented to you through talk radio or whatever fringe site that your found this "fascinating" information.

Sorry for the delay Lyn, Solon just experienced a slight power outage. I've read 3 excellent books over the past few weeks. Bull by the Horns by Sheila Bair the FDIC chairwoman before and during the financial meltdown is an excellent read. I've read a few books about the causes of the 2008 meltdown but this was by far the most organized straight forward account I have read. Sheila Bair is one smart woman. The Oath: The Obama White House and the Supreme Court by Jeffery Toobin is an excellent overview of the makeup of the court and it's relationship to the O Administration and lastly, Don't Ask What Good We Do: Inside the U.S. House of Representatives by Robert Draper offers a great overview of the tug of war going on between the 2 parties and within the 2 parties as well. I think every American should read Sheila Bair's book because it depicts the machine that allowed the greed to operate throughout our free market system.

California doesn't exactly have anything working these days thanks to the Democrats there. Does Watts want Ohio to be broke like California?

Hey Watts how many Calif cities have flled for bankruptcy? How does one state get a $16 billion budget deficit? Why is the unemployment rate over 10% if its all working?

Looks like government is California's problem. We don't need anyone from California meddling in Ohio! You can take Nancy Pelosi too!

MITT & HIS BILLIONAIRE BOYS CLUB WANT TO DISTRACT US....Romney & his Wealthy Donors CAN'T wait to reap the benefits of when Romney Eliminates: Long Term Capital Gains...BILLIONS of dollars UNTAXED! Why they won't have to have Swiss Bank Accounts anymore! PLUS Middle Class will be giving them a $250,000 Tax Break to boot! ..... The Debates gave us a look at each candidate.Romney CHANGED his positions drastically in hopes to win votes by fooling people....... Quite simply there is no math that shows that Romney's $5 trillion tax cut can be revenue neutral by eliminating deductions just for the wealthy. It wil effect the middle class or swell the deficit to unprecedented levels....... Tax cuts for the wealthy simply have not delivered what we were told they would in the Bush Era. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result. Going BACK to the FAILED BUSH POLICIES MITT EMBRACES, WOULD BE A DISASTER FOR THE MIDDLE CLASS!

VOTE...IN YOUR FAMILIES BEST INTEREST....THERE IS ALLOT AT STAKE FOR THE MIDDLE CLASS....Romney/Ryan Rebublican Agenda basically proposes three big things: slashing Medicaid, cutting taxes on corporations and high-income people, and replacing Medicare with a drastically less well funded voucher system. These concrete proposals would, taken together, actually increase the deficit for the first decade and beyond.
Mitt Romney said at the first debate, that he had a "plan" for health care that included pre-existing conditions and the next day his campaign said that was NOT correct. So, GOOD LUCK in finding an insurance company who accepts pre-existing conditions! This applies to EVERYONE...not just seniors!.... Not even the over 55 seniors are safe if Medicare is slowly starved of funding as Republicans plan to do..... VOTE…in your families BEST interest…We all know what it has been like for our families and friends, since 2008, when wall street recklessness and the banks crashed the economy. We just cannot go BACK to the FAILED Bush Policies that Romney embraces, that almost send us into a Depression.

It came as a surprise to me today to see New Jersey governor Chris? Christie on Fox News, praising Obama for his handling of hurricane relief to his state. Maybe it's just a cynical bid for more money to NJ, but I thought Christie seemed genuinely in pain regarding the devastation there. There really are times when the national government needs to provide assistance to those in need, and that's been evident over the past four years as we slowly climb out of this recession. It was apparent when reading Don't Ask What Good We Do: Inside the U.S. House of Representatives, the Tea Party Caucus led by Eric Kantor and John Boehner and the Republican establishment are heading for a showdown. For that matter Pelosi and the Blue Dog Democrats are poised for a showdown as well. But, I get a kick out of how some pick and choose parts of his book to substantiate there point. Both sides were to blame. I agree with most of what you said ..but
-yes, women can be tougher on each other, but the blog author writes an unusual amount of blogs about the same subject. I know some women have a hard time getting past being childless, but at some time they do need to come to grips with it and to do it continually on a public forum is probably not the right place. At least, that is how I have read the authors blogs - she is sometimes hard to follow where she is going.
-also, the writer to Dear Abby said "After 2 years of marriage, I finally brought up the subject. Edgar then informed me..." You have to wonder why there was no discussion of this for 2 years and just how much was discussed before marriage. He may have become comfortable with life as it became and for 2 years not 1 word about kids, so he may have assumed that was her change of heart also. I do think he probably said what he either felt at the time or he thought she wanted to hear. And now the poor wife is suffering the consequences.

New, CBS/NYTimes/Quinnipiac Poll
OBAMA LEADS IN OHIO, 50 percent to 45 percent Romney

Ohioans who early voted, 60 percent voted Obama, 34 percent voted Romney.

96 percent of Ohio voters who haven’t voted, their minds are made up on voting choice.

Ohioans have a higher unfavorable (48 percent) rating than favorable rating (46 percent) for Romney. In contrast, Obama has higher favorable than unfavorable rating.
http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2012/10/31/us/politics/31poll-results-documents.html

I believe that Romney’s lies in his false Jeep ad aren’t helping his favorability or his desperate and dying campaign! NBC-TV's Tom Brokaw called that ad "dead wrong" this morning (Oct. 31).
