McDonald's Variance Requests Tabled by Restaurant Architects

McDonald's was on the Board of Zoning Appeals' agenda for Thursday, but now the topic will not be discussed.

The architects behind a new McDonald's at the corner of Shiawassee and West Market Street have asked to table their variance requests on Thursday's Board of Zoning Appeals agenda.

James Ptacek of Larsen Architects was asking for a 0.57-acre variance from the minimum lot size requirement of 1.5 acres and a 25-foot minimum parking set back variance to allow 6.8-foot from West Market and 7-foot from Shiawassee Avenue.

Both variances were tabled at the request of Larsen Architects, according to the agenda, which is attached to the media portion of this article. Since they were tabled, McDonald's will not be discussed, said City Council President Russ Sharnsky.

McDonald's representatives also asked to table a preliminary site plan for the restaurant at a Nov. 8 Planning Commission meeting because there were questions about the plan they didn't have answers to.
