Original story:
Working-class adults aren't the only ones who need some stress relief these days, according to Clare Quartaraco, owner of LaVida Massage opening soon in Fairlawn Town Centre.
"There are teenagers now who play sports and 20 years down the road they have arthritis," Quartaraco said. "I want to help that person feel better now."
LaVida Massage will open mid November next to Tuesday Morning. Quartaraco will offer all types of massages at affordable rates for the entire family.
"I'm not a massage therapist myself, but I've learned a lot about what massage can do for everyone," Quartaraco said. "We're really focusing on the therapy aspect and the maintenance of your body. We want you to come back."
Quartaraco said several studies show that repeating massage sessions has great benefits on everyone. She recently spoke with a woman who has battled emphysema for the past five years who said if she didn't get a massage every week, she would either be dead or in the hospital by now.
"Massage also helps with stress relief, pain and circulation," she said. "It helps move things along and it also helps to release those bad toxins in our lymph nodes. We want massage to be looked at as an alternative to medication."
A traditional spa offers massages that range anywhere from $80 to $125, Quartaraco said. LaVida offers a monthly plan for $49.95 and everyone gets a free massage that can be rolled over.
"I'm excited to help people feel better," Quartaraco said. "Our society is aging and we're living longer, so don't you want to feel better? We can help now."
Quartaraco is also looking for licensed massage therapists. She hopes to eventually employ 15 therapists. If interested, email cquartaraco@lavidamassage.com.

After 20 years in the massage therapy business it still appalls me to read "parlor " in association with Massage Therapy. It demeans a legitimate profession.
