Fire Blazes Through Top Floor in Bath Township Home Garage

Information provided by the Bath Township Fire Department.

The top floor of a detached garage was ruined Friday morning after a fire ripped through it, said Bath Fire Chief Walter Hower. No one was injured and no one was in the garage at the time of the fire.

A passer-by called in the fire at 1340 N. Cleveland-Massillon Road, across from R.B. Stout, around 9:33 a.m., Hower said. Assistant Fire Chief Tim Gemind said firefighters could see the smoke rising from the building at the station.

It took firefighters from Bath, Copley, Fairlawn and Richfield about 10 minutes to extinguish the flames, Hower said. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.

No damage was done to the building structure.

Hower did not know the names of the homeowners, but according to the Summit County Fiscal Officer's website, the home belongs to Christie and Joshua Baughman. Their home was not damaged.
