Happy 50th Birthday to the Fairlawn City Women's Club!

The club celebrated Jan. 4 by holding a regular meeting and accepting an official resolution passed by City Council from Mayor William Roth.

The resolution congratulates and commends the club and thanks the members for their long history of volunteer service to the community.

"We are dedicated to our area," said President Jan Butler. "We raise money for scholarships in the Copley-Fairlawn school district and for needy families in the area."

The club also has a float in the Fourth of July parade, which was started by members serveral years ago, said member Betty Huston.

Members also sell refreshments at concerts in Bicentennial Park, host a rummage sale and a dessert card party. Donations to the club are given to Copley High School's After Prom, Harvest Home, Stewart's Caring Place, Boy Scouts Troop #390 and the Fairlawn Community Foundation.
