Candidate Statement: I believe that we must provide high quality public education for our youth. This is a critical time for public education. We are at a crossroads. Our ability to continue to provide high quality public education is impacted by reduced funding and other financial challenges; changes in Ohio law which impact staff and impose unfunded mandates, and a loss of confidence in public education and educators by some.
High quality public schools are necessary for our youth and an asset to our community. I am running for school board because I want to be involved in shaping the future of our schools.
I believe that I have the skills necessary to be an effective board member, including the ability to analyze and logically work through problems, identify the true issues and find workable solutions. I work to see both sides of an issue and craft a solution that is effective and fair to all.
I have lived in the District for 18 years and been a lifelong resident of Northeast Ohio. I have two children who attend the Revere Local Schools. I have been very active in my community holding leadership positions in several community organizations. Much of my community activity has been centered around empowering the children and youth of our community.
If I am elected, I will strive to manage costs without negatively impacting the quality of education. I will promote a positive relationship between the Board, the Administration and Staff. I will strive to establish trust and confidence in the Board by the community, and I will continually spotlight and promote the success and achievements of the District’s students and staff and the value of our schools to the community.
