Drunken Driver Parks, Sleeps in Middle of Yellowcreek Road
The following information was supplied by the Bath Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.
Bath Police arrested a drunken motorist who had “parked” his vehicle in the middle of Yellowcreek Road – engine running and headlights on – while he slept behind the wheel.
An officer was dispatched to the 3200 block of Yellowcreek at 5:24 a.m. Dec. 31 for a report of a vehicle parked in the road.
The officer saw a male driver passed out behind the wheel with the engine running. “It took several attempts to wake the driver, and this officer had to finally open the driver’s side door and shake the driver,” the officer wrote.
He noted the driver had slurred speech and red glassy eyes. “He was also confused as to where he was,” the officer wrote. The man performed poorly on two field sobriety tests – then refused to perform any other tests.
“The driver stated that he was intoxicated and to just arrest him,” the officer reported.
The man was taken for processing to the police department, where he was given a breath test that registered a .183 blood alcohol content. The legal driving limit in Ohio is .08.
He was later turned over to the Parma Police Department on an outstanding warrant. The man’s vehicle was towed by police order.
