Drunk Richfield Man Caught Trying to Burglarize Lenox Village Home
Information provided by the Fairlawn Police Department.
A Lenox Village woman was startled out of sleep at 2:45 a.m. on May 5 when she heard someone repeatedly ringing her doorbell and banging on her door, a Fairlawn police report said.
The woman got out of bed and heard the person jiggling her door handle. When she looked outside, she told police she saw a man walking toward the parking lot, and then heard someone climbing up her second story patio wall, the report said.
The woman quickly called police and locked her patio door, the report said.
When police arrived, they searched the outside area and didn't find anyone, but saw that a first-floor patio chair had been knocked over. An officer went up to the second-floor patio, they found 25-year-old Hugh Hutton, of Richfield, hiding behind a storage door, the report said.
Hutton was also drunk, the report said.
The woman told police she didn't know who he was, and Hutton told police he was looking for his friend's condo but didn't know the address.
Police arrested Hutton and charged him with attempted burglary.
