Copley Teen's Crash Leads to Investigation of Akron Bar

The Revere High senior flipped her car after allegedly driving drunk on May 17.

Akron bar The Dorm, in Merriman Valley, is under investigation in connection with alcohol sales to minors, according to News Channel 5. Witnesses told police they saw the bar serve Revere High senior Macy Emma Mruk before she flipped her car on May 17.

Mruk was driving on Bath Hills Boulevard around 1:30 a.m. when her car went off the side of the road, hit a tree and flipped her car. The collision threw Mruk from the car's driver's side window. Highway Patrol Sgt. Carlos Smith said she was not wearing a seat belt.

Highway Patrol has since charged Mruk with failure to control, driving under the influence and failure to wear a seat belt. Troopers said Akron General Hospital officials reported her blood alcohol content was 0.235, which is above the legal limit.

Mruk's skull was fractured and her pelvis and back were injured. Channel 5 said Mruk is out of the intensive care unit but still has several broken bones.
