For the last 43 years, Christ Child Society of Akron has hosted a holiday boutique to help provide aid and clothing to area children in need.
This year's boutique will be held from 9 to 3 p.m. on Nov. 17 at the Fairlawn Hilton. Admission to the boutique is free and features crafts, artisans, raffles and a bake shop.
If you want to stay for lunch, for $32, you'll see a style show by Toni in Style from Chagrin Falls. Lunch selections include: Sherry Chicken served with Rice Pilaf and Fort Island Green Beans; or Potato Encrusted Cod served with Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Asparagus; or Vegetarian Past Pomadora - Penne Pasta, Black Olives, Spinach, and Tomatoes, tossed in Fresh Garlic and Olive Oil.
For luncheon reservations: Mail a check for $32 per person, payable to Christ Child Society of Akron, to Micki Trenta, 2577 Stonecreek Dr., Akron, OH 44320.
"The mission is so important," said Sharon Connor, Christ Child member. "Children don't ask what family to be born into. We're there to provide assistance."
In the past few years, the fundraiser has brought in more than $20,000 and that has bought clothes and supplies for those children.
"It's our largest fundraiser and it buys us a huge amount of clothing," Connor said. "It's a great way to kick off the holiday season."
