Caught! 'Fugitive of the Week' Nabbed in Cleveland

Tip to U.S. Marshal's office led to Roy Young's arrest.

The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force’s “Fugitive of the Week"  was arrested in Cleveland today, U. S. Marshal Peter J. Elliot confirmed. Roy Young Jr. was caught just after 1 p.m. on Dec. 11, one day after being named Fugitive of the Week.

Young was initially believed to be hiding in Lorain County.

"We grabbed him this afternoon," Elliot, of the Northern District of Ohio Marshal's office, said. "We caught him in the 3400 block near West 120th in Cleveland."

Elliot said it was a hotline tip that led to Young’s arrest.

"We arrested him there," Elliot said. "He was not armed."

Elliot said Young was alone when arrested. He expected Young would first be held in Cleveland and then transferred to Lorain County, where he was wanted by the Lorain County Sherrif's Office.

Media sources, including numerous Patches, published the Fugitive of the Week.

"We continue to ask for our tips through the hotline," Elliot said.

Tips to the Task Force hotline remain anonymous.

Young was wanted by the U.S. Marshals and the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office for rape, sexual assault and gross sexual imposition. He's been accused of continually raping and sexually assaulting a young child for the last 10 years.

Young spoke with the Chronicle-Telegram newspaper in October, saying the rape allegations "were false and filed by (wife) Sherry Young during a domestic argument."

In that article, Young also accused Sherry Young of setting him up on the rape allegations.
