Police were called after a Bath Elementary student found a .22 caliber bullet casing on the floor of his school bus around 3 p.m. on Feb. 20. 

Bath officers searched the bus for bullet holes but found none, leading them to conclude a gun had not been fired inside or near the bus.

According to Bath Police Capt. Greg Lang, there's no reason for parents or students to be alarmed.

If it had been an actual bullet, there may have been cause for concern; but as of now, the matter requires no further investigation, said Lang.

The casing was taken into evidence.
