Bath Trustees Narrow Administrator Search to Six Candidates

The trustees have rehired current Administrator Bill Snow until March 31, 2013 to help transition the new administrator.

The search for Bath Township's new administrator has been narrowed to six candidates, according to the township trustees.

Trustees began their search in July after current Administrator Bill Snow announced he was retiring to protect his pension, pending pension changes at the state level. He said he wasn't ready to retire but had to do what was best to protect what he has earned. He asked that trustees consider rehiring him.

Snow's retirement date was Aug. 31, but trustees rehired Snow through March 2013 to ensure an orderly transition for the next administrator.

The trustees sifted through 33 resumes, including Bill Snow's, and asked 14 candidates to attend Monday's trustee meeting for a group interview. Now the candidates have been narrowed to six.

The trustees said the resumes they received were included a "wealth of experience in leadership, fiscal and human resource management, community involvement, and government services."

The candidates include Kevin Brooks, Douglas Burchard, Robert Genet, Vito Sinopoli (a Bath Township police officer), William Snow and Sharon Troike (current township fiscal officer).

The trustees have identified a process for thoroughly evaluating and selecting a new hire. They also retained Bill Evans, from Poly-Tech Associates as a consultant, to facilitate the process.  The Board of Trustees is in the process of reviewing each candidate. While the process is time consuming, they are striving to complete the selection in the near future.

Trustee Elaina Goodrich said she expects to name a new township administrator in the new year.

As a next step, they have invited each candidate to an individual oral interview followed by a written assignment.  Further testing will include both computer skills test and a presentation by the finalists.
