Bath Shoplifting Report Turns Into Drug Arrest

The following information was supplied by the Bath Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A report of shoplifting at a Bath Township store resulted in drug charges against one of two Doylestown women who were both arrested for theft.

A loss prevention associate at Old Navy called Bath Police at 6:38 p.m. Jan. 3 after seeing two women conceal clothing merchandise in a store bag.

The women left the store without paying and were detained outside. Police said the women admitted to the theft.

One of the women consented to a search of her vehicle, which was parked on the West Market Plaza lot. Police said they found “a clear baggie containing green vegetable matter and a Schedule II prescription tablet that was not issued to the female.”

Both women were arrested, charged with theft and taken to the police department for processing. Based on the evidence discovered in the vehicle, one of the females was also issued a summons to appear in court on charges of possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
