Bath Man Snaps Photo of 'Offensive' Acme Employee, Fight Ensues

A Bath Township man was in the Acme Fresh Market parking lot on Sept. 12 when he heard an Acme employee allegedly say something offensive, according to a Bath police report.

Bath police Chief Michael McNeely said the man heard the employee use inappropriate language, so he walked up to the employee and snapped his photo with his cell phone.

The employee followed the man into the store and they both started yelling, the report said. McNeely said the employee took the man's phone and threw it through the store.

The fight did not get physical, but the report said the employee threatened the man. However, the man did not want the police to investigate the threat.

The Bath Township man was issued a trespass warning and McNeely said the Acme administrators handled the employee internally.

Let me get this straight. An Acme employee took a cell phone from a patron, threw it accross the store and the patron was issued a trespass warning on behalf of the store?
If somebody grabbed my smartphone and destroyed it in like manner, I'd be pressing charges.
Granted, unless the employee's slur were made directly toward the patron, his was probably an evangellical act of self-importance, apparently having the slur relayed to Acme officials was of sufficient threat to in part cause the employee's actions.
Had I been the patron I don't think a trespass warning would be necessary in the least.
Future patronage would not take place.

Have you been to that Acme store?? Most of the time employees rarely make eye contact, never say thank you, there's always some off duty employee loitering and everyone on duty acts like you doing them a favor. They treat you in an overall rude way. We no longer go there, we use the Giant Eagle cross the street. This story just affirms how backwards thinking their customer service is.

I also was there and when I was at the checkout, two employees were standing there, while one was bagging and the other cashier, talking about their wild weekend, never say hello,have an acme card, nothing. RUDE

When I shop there I pick certain cashiers because quite often the talk between the young cashiers and baggers is not professional at all. I worked at west point market when I was young and if you have ever been there, customer service is top notch that's how customers should be treated everywhere.

My daughter used to work at that store. You should hear some of the stories she told me about the rude customers. It is pretty hard to constantly deal with that, particularly when you aren't paid that well. Working the registers is the worst. Yes, some of the employees there, like employees anywhere, could use a brush-up on their customer service skills. I've found that even the grumpiest of them can be friendly if I, as the customer, smile at them and strike up a conversation, or genuinely respond when they say hello. You know...treat them like real people.
