$900 Worth of Counterfeit Bills Spent at Dillard’s
The following information was supplied by the Fairlawn Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.
A manager at Dillard’s at Summit Mall called Fairlawn Police on Dec. 6 regarding the loss of $790 worth of merchandise paid for with nine counterfeit $100 bills – a transaction that cost the store $1,690 in cash and merchandise.
The manager said that between 4 p.m. and 4:40 p.m. Dec. 5, a Dillard’s sales associate sold 10 items of fragrances and cosmetics with a combined value of $790 to a woman who paid with $900 in cash.
An inspection after the sale was completed and the customer had left the store revealed the bills were counterfeit.
The sales associate said the female customer was about 30 to 35 years old, had an acne-scarred face and spoke Spanish while on her cell phone. The woman’s hair color was unknown, as she was wearing a hat.
